Hi! I'm Charlotte :)
You can call me Char, Charlotta, Charmander, Lottie, CharChar Binks, Charletta Jones... I think you get it. You can call me whatever you'd like - as long as it's nice ;)
I am an elopement, engagement, family + lifestyle photographer based out of Stirling, Ontario, Canada. I am a valley kid who was blessed to be born and raised in Kentville, Nova Scotia (the Annapolis Valley) known for the Apple Blossom Festival and The Pumpkin People Festival!
I have been happily married to the ever-so-handsome and sweet, Mark, - a Newfoundlander - for TWELVE YEARS (we got married at the ripe ol' age of 22!). We live with our little Papillon, Pippin, and a sweet sassy cat named Charlotte .. we adopted her because of her name (obvi) but she is also a sweetie pie so that helped to sweeten the deal. We are a military family and have relocated from the East Coast (Nova Scotia + Newfoundland), to Petawawa Ontario, to Shilo Manitoba, to Belleville Ontario, to Halifax Nova Scotia and now we are back in the Bay of Quinte in Ontario and found our home just north of Belleville + Trenton! It is this style of living that inspired me to take on photography as more than just a hobby. I needed and wanted something that I could grow at, that would challenge me, and bring along with us on our postings to different areas in the Great White North! It has also helped me to get out and meet so many incredible and interesting people and some that I call my really good friends!
Day to day, I read my Bible with a coffee in hand, walk Pippin rain or shine (you can imagine what our house smells like sometimes.. haha!), rewatching either Gilmore Girls, The Office, Seinfeld, The Chosen, Bob's Burgers or Family Guy (I know, it's quite the mixture), and read as much as I can (where my Bookstagram besties at?!)! I love yoga, spin and just moving my body, going hiking, indoor bouldering, going on road trips, and checking out cute coffee shops! Re-watching The Lord of The Rings (the extended editions only), and snacking on old fashioned glazed donuts are two of my favourite things (after Jesus, Mark and our pets of course!)! My toxic trait is believing that I am a good dancer - just picture Elaine from Seinfeld.. yeah, that about sums me up, haha!
What brought me to photography?
I have always had a passion for taking photos! Growing up, I went through multiple Canon digital cameras (my dad spoiled me with new cameras every other year to keep up with the updates) and I was always the friend who brought her little silver or red or black digital camera with her wherever she went to be sure to never miss a moment of fun back when cell phones were gigantic, didn't have cameras, and hardly anyone owned one! Am I at the age where you would bring your digital camera to the bar?... Yes.
When I got married, I wanted to up my photo-taking game and my incredibly supportive husband gifted me my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel t3i, just before our impromptu honeymoon to Cuba in 2014! Nearing the end of our posting in Manitoba in 2016, I had learned enough about my camera to start taking photos of other people and how to edit. I started off doing it for fun and for the learning experience. Then fast-forward to our move to Ontario, about a year-ish in and few more free gigs, I decided to take the plunge and do something that I hate - ask people to pay me! Spoiler: it was not as scary as I thought and definitely a step in the right direction!
Soon, we will be calling Stirling, Ontario our new home and I cannot wait to see some old clients and friends and start making new ones (and memories) over the next little while!
The end.
Kind Words
Charlotte Buckle is a wonderful photographer to work with.
She has a way of making you feel comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. I have now had multiple family photoshoots with Charlotte starting from when my daughter was a month old. She came to my home for a lifestyle / family session, she even made my camera shy husband feel comfortable.
She works great with children, and amazing with any four legged family members as well, she can make them the star of the show.
I have recommended her to many friends and relatives and will continue to do so.
