You can call me Char, Charlotta, Charmander, Lottie, CharChar Binks, Charletta Jones... I think you get it. You can call me whatever you'd like - as long as it's nice ;)
I am a wedding, engagement and lifestyle photographer based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I am a valley kid who was blessed to be born and raised in Kentville, Nova Scotia (aka. home of the pumpkin people).
I have been happily married to the ever-so-handsome, Mark, - a Newfoundlander who is in the military - for TEN YEARS (we got married at the ripe ol' age of 22!). We live with our three black dogs - Rosie, Noah + Pippin - and a sweet sassy cat named Charlotte (yes.. we adopted her because of her name). We have relocated from the East Coast (Nova Scotia + Newfoundland), to Petawawa Ontario, to Shilo Manitoba, to Belleville Ontario, and now we are back (almost) exactly where our story began, in Halifax Nova Scotia! It is this style of living that inspired me to take on photography as more than just a hobby. I needed and wanted something that I could grow at, learn from, and bring along with us on our postings to different areas in the Great White North!
Day to day, I practice yoga daily, walk our dogs rain or shine, rewatching either Mad Men, The Office or Gilmore Girls, and read as much as I can (where my Booksta besties at?!)! I love running and spin, going hiking, rock climbing/ indoor bouldering, and going on road trips with my husband! Re-watching The Lord of The Rings (the extended editions only), and munching on glazed donuts are two of my favourite things in the whole world (after my husband and our pets of course!)! My toxic trait is believing that I am a good dancer - picture Elaine from Seinfeld.. yeah, that about sums me up, haha!
What brought me to photography?
I have always had a passion for taking photos! Growing up, I went through multiple Canon digital cameras (my dad spoiled me with new cameras every other year to keep up with the updates) and I was always the friend who brought her little silver or red or black digital camera with her wherever she went to be sure to never miss a moment of fun (back when cell phones were gigantic, didn't have cameras, and hardly anyone owned one)! When I got married, I wanted to up my photo-taking game and my incredibly supportive husband gifted me my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel t3i, just before our honeymoon to Cuba in 2014! Nearing the end of our posting in Manitoba in 2016, I had learned enough about my camera to start taking photos of other people and how to edit. I started off doing it for fun and for the learning experience. Then fast-forward to our move to Ontario, about a year-ish in and few more free gigs, I decided to take the plunge and do something that I hate - ask people to pay me! Spoiler: it was not as scary as I thought and definitely a step in the right direction!
Now, I am based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia but I spend a bit of my time back in Belleville, Ontario where I have built up the most supportive clientele and the best friendships and I am always up for an adventure!

She has a way of making you feel comfortable and beautiful in front of the camera. I have now had multiple family photoshoots with Charlotte starting from when my daughter was a month old. She came to my home for a lifestyle / family session, she even made my camera shy husband feel comfortable.
