If you ask me to come to a city that I share a name with...

the answer will always be YES!

Julie + Benjamin are both Nova Scotians living that island life in Prince Edward Island. Their wedding is this August in New Ross and with busy schedules on both ends, I said 'how about I come up there?!' because I honestly love having any excuse to go to PEI/ Charlottetown! And that is exactly what I did this past Sunday :)

It was a cloudy day but the rain held off. They chose one of the only wooded trail systems in the city - Wrights Creek South Nature Trail right in Charlottetown (slightly on the outside but still in the city!). It may not be the traditional location for a PEI engagement but it was a great spot for all of us to explore (it was their first time as well). Lots of trees were down from hurricane Fiona last year which caused so much destruction on the island but there was still a ton of beauty all around and lots of leaves were in bloom!

This engagement session was a perfect example of why I think it is SO IMPORTANT to meet your photographer/ couples before the wedding day! Julie was definitely a bit nervous in front of the camera (though you can't tell) but after a few minutes of chatting and laughing, she came around and seemed to be more at ease with having me around and having a camera pointed at her, haha! I loved getting to know Julie and Benjamin and hearing what they do, how they met, their engagement story, their plans for the wedding day, and seeing photos of not only Julie's GORGEOUS wedding dress, but also seeing Benjamin's LAVENDER SUIT!!! Gah! It was just the best!

We all started out nervous (I was a bit more nervous because I don't shoot in PEI often and I didn't know the couple) but, to me anyway, we parted as friends! That is all I want for every engagement session, lifestyle session and wedding or elopement - I want my clients to feel as though they are having their photos done by a friend :)

Bring on August! (and more sessions in PEI)
