The best part about being a photographer?

Going to new-to-you places!

So, if you didn't know, I am a born and raised Nova Scotian. I married my husband - a Newfoundland man - in 2013 when we were 22 and from then until 2021 we had lived away for his job (he is in the military). Now that you are up to speed, let's get to my point, haha!

Being back in Nova Scotia and having photography as my career, I have been exposed to so many new places that I have never been before or seen. It is such a gift to see the province with "tourist eyes", a term I just made up and hopefully you understand haha!

This was my first time in the Belliveau Cove area and it will not be my last!

It was stunning!

That small-town feel with an 'Acadian zest' (I am making up a lot of terms right now but these are just what come to mind).

This was my first ever Bilingual/ French dominant wedding which at first was intimidating but Dani, Gilles and their family and friends were all so kind and accommodating to me and spoke english / translated for me.

I know a little bit of French from bring in French Immersion from grade 7-12 though I do not come from a French-speaking family and I haven't used the language much since over the past 14 years. I was able to understand more than I thought I would but communicating back is where I fall short.

But if this wedding taught me one thing (other than Dani + Gilles and their loved ones are some of the nicest people EVER and that Belliveau Cove is stunning!) it is that I want to be bilingual.

So, ever since their wedding I have been doing Duolingo every day (which is so much fun and I am addicted to relearning what I already know and learning new terms and words!) and I am looking into taking some French courses!

I love to learn, especially languages, so I hope that someday I can offer myself as bilingual photographer and book more weddings throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and maybe even France?!! (fingers crossed!).

These are just some peeks into Dani + Gilles gorgeous June wedding that had the perfect mix of weather.

It took place at Gilles's father's restaurant, La Vieille École , which is a gorgeous seafood restaurant nestled along the shoreline of St. Mary's Bay. This was their very first time hosting a wedding but when I walked into the restaurant I would have sworn they have done this for a few years at the very least! It was so beautifully set up and the perfect location for a small / intimate wedding along the sea!

Also, their food... DELISH!

10/10 would recommend either getting married here or just going for a bite to eat!

I can't wait to share more from this wedding when I get to finishing their gallery!

So stay tuned!
