Olivia + Luc's wedding day was absolutely beautiful!

It wasn't the sunny May day we were hoping for but it wasn't too cold and it didn't rain so really it was the perfect weathered day.

This wedding took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Oxford Street in Halifax for the ceremony and Saraguay House for the reception - a perfect blend for this day! I don't shoot many church weddings but this was a gorgeous and spacious church with lots of light pouring in through the stained glass windows and the priest's speech to the couple was beautiful and also hilarious - the best of both worlds. After the ceremony and a quick recessional as the guests left the church (while being cheered on by the wedding party - what better way to leave church!), it was time for family, wedding party and couple photos at Dingle Tower (Sir Sanford Fleming Park) just 10 minutes from the church in Purcell's Cove. By not having the brightest sun or the bluest sky, this allowed us to have even and soft lighting for photos which, for photographers, is a dream! No one is squinting, no harsh shadows, and you can practically shoot at any angle with no issues!

After a short time at Dingle, we decided to head to our final destination, Saraguay House, so that Olivia and Luc could mingle and we could grab some more shots of the wedding party and the couple. Saraguay House is about 8 minutes from Dingle Tower on the same road so this was an easy transition!

Once we got to the reception location it was time for more photos, mingling, drinks, supper, speeches, first dances, and party time!

Highlights:

  • Seeing Olivia in her dress for the first time! WOW! What a gorgeous bride and human being she is!
  • The wedding party hyping guests up while they exited the church after the ceremony. It was like everyone got their own Red Carpet moment and was a fun way to get photos of guests at the wedding!
  • Photos at Dingle Tower. Again, the wedding party takes the cake as best hype people and laugh makers! I love working with people who have a sense of humour :)
  • Cocktail hour! This is a shocking one for me as well because to be honest.... I don't like cocktail hour normally! But Olivia and Luc's guests were happy and eager to have photos taken and it was great chatting with them!
  • The bride, groom and wedding party taking a group shot of fireball before their entrance into dinner. I am a big fan of fireball! No, I did not take a shot but if I was offered one... just kidding.. or am I? Haha!
  • All the speeches! I am a sucker for speeches, no matter how long! I love hearing people express their love for their family and friends.
  • Olivia's wardrobe change!!! This woman pulled out all the stops with her looks on her wedding day! Once the party started she snuck off to change into a gorgeous white bodycon sequin dress and became a dancing queen!
  • When Luc and his groomsmen came back to the party with their gifted Crocs and light-up jibbitz, shaved beards leaving them with only mustaches, and their Pittsburgh Steeler jerseys that said 'Grooman' on them! What a fun(ny) way to end the night!
