Mornings on the Halifax Harbour with strangers..

count me in!

This is actually one of my "Buckle List" (clever, I know) sessions! I have wanted to shoot an engagement session (well, any type of session really) on the Halifax-Dartmouth Ferry since moving back to Nova Scotia. It was just back in 2022 when I went on the ferry for the first time - I grew up in the valley and we only went to the Dartmouth side to see my grandparents.

When Lauren suggested the ferry as one of their "locations" because it held some sentimentality in her and Dylan's relationship (they use it often) I knew we had to make it happen! So, we pick sunrise (around 8am - this was back in October) and although the crossing into Halifax was quite full, the crossing back was to Dartmouth was really when we could take advantage of the ferry space and Lauren and Dylan could relax a little with less eyes on them, haha!

After the ferry, I commuted to Shubie Park with Lauren and Dylan which gave us some more time to get to know each other - what better way to get to know your photographer than have her stuck in the backseat of your car lol - and we drove past their wedding venue, The Mic Mac Aquatic Club. Once we got to Shubie Park, we wandered and frolicked, talked about dogs (whilst seeing so many cute dogs) and more about their wedding day, how they met (during a dragon boat race in grade 7!) and all the bits and bobs of when you first meet someone.

Engagement sessions are practically "first dates" for photographers and their clients and, in my personal opinion, I think this first date went pretty well and I will definitely be meeting up with Lauren and Dylan again ;)

(In the summer at their wedding.. I know sometimes humour/jokes can get lost, haha! Please don't think I'm a creep!)
