This year I have decided to do something that I haven't done since I first decided to become a photographer..
I put out a model call!
Actually, I put out a few haha! And I will continue to do this throughout the year of 2024!
Why?
Well, model calls are great for when you are feeling rusty (like myself), you want to have complete creative control, you maybe want to grow your clientele (working with new people can potentially mean reaching new clients), growing your portfolio, and creating the the photos and experience you want! There are even more benefits but the list too long, haha!
Coming out of the slower season I always find myself feeling stiff and not having the best flow for my sessions. My mind goes blank for poses and prompts - so I decided to try doing more model calls this year.
How did I do this?
I posted on my Instagram that I was looking for couples who wouldn't mind me taking their photos .. for free!
Rachael was one of the first people to reach out and we had happened to have just met a few days prior at a Women's Day event held in Bedford - so it was perfect!
Her and her fiancé, Dan, were kind enough to meet me at Peggy's Cove on a "warmer" March evening and do whatever I told them to do, haha!
It was such a fun time and great to work with a couple that was so easy-going and okay with the chillier temperature especially being right next to the ocean (it was still technically Winter)!
I have a couple more model call sessions coming up that I am so so excited for and cannot wait to share the results with you all!
