Canada's Ocean Playground
When most people think of Nova Scotia they think about ol' Peggy here. She is a province staple and a beacon of light (literally) for it's people and visitors alike!
Surprisingly, when you live here, you don't visit her as much and I have not had any client choose Peggy's Cove Lighthouse as their location for photos.. this could be due to the fact that locals know how crazy this place gets especially once the weather is nice and the sun is out. Parking can be near impossible or be far out and for some that walk is just not do-able (which is totally understandable).
But I wanted to shoot here. So I did a model-call and one of my absolute favourite photographers in the area, River Heim and her partner Dylan, kindly volunteered! When River had reached out to this, I nearly fell over! I have been such a fan of her and her INCREDIBLE work since we moved here in 2021. She was also one of the first local photographers to follow me and start a conversation! She is so kind and easy-going (as is Dylan!) and I couldn't even believe that she would be up for me to take her photos!
It was such a fun experience and I tried out some funky poses with them (see Dylan laying down with his legs up, haha!) and played with light and shadows during this shoot. It was a great way to feel relaxed and just try out some poses and prompts that I have been wanting to but haven't been able to!
I will definitely be doing more model-calls in the future because they give me a sense of freedom and ease with my photography.
But I hope to do more shoots at Peggy's Cove Lighthouse as well!
She is a beaut and you can beat the crowds... by going for sunrise ;)
See you there?
